Los Angeles based, the MKW Group is headed by Master Kim, a world-class fitness instructor,Our Fitness is Meditation in Motion martial arts world champion, acupuncturist and herbalist.

Martial Arts & Fitness Background

Master Kim is a practitioner of the Korean martial art form known as TaeKwonDo, but he has also studied and practiced the arts of Chi Gong and Tai Chi, both of which concentrate on increasing the energetic flow within the body.

Master Kim started teaching martial arts as a teenager and was a martial arts competitor statewide, nationally and internationally capturing a gold medal at the Tae Kwon Do World Games.  After retiring from competition, he created the Beverly Hills Martial Arts Center in 1992. Originally located in Beverly Hills, he later moved the Center to its present location at 8182 Sunset Boulevard near the Sunset Strip.

With its wall of windows, customized training mat,  ballet barres free weights, and Asian antiques, it is one of the premiere martial arts and fitness spaces in Los Angeles.

Master Kim has trained, and continues to train, some of the most beautiful women in LA, actors, physician, professional athletes, models and business people.  He has also worked with those suffering from serious physical disabilities such as paralysis and blindness.  In every instance, fitness regimes are created that fit the person so that optimal fitness goals are achieved.

But more than fitness goals are achieved at the Center.  As all the training is rooted in martial arts,  Clients benefit from focus and calming of the mind which martial arts practice is known for.

Journey to Acupuncture and Herbal Therapy

Ten years ago, Master Kim wanted to expand  his wellness practice and became a licensed acupuncturist and herbal therapy practitioner. Some were surprised that a martial arts teacher would undertake the extensive studying necessary to become an acupuncturist and herbalist. But the study of oriental medicine is a natural extension of martial arts. Martial arts’ ultimate goal is the improvement one’s physical and mental health.  For centuries, martial artists studied and practiced acupuncture and oriental herbal therapy to achieve better health.  Master Kim is only continuing this tradition.
